Shut the Canon printer
Press and hold the STOP/RESET button
Wait until it shows an “idle” message. It will take a few seconds
When “idle” show, open the top cover to expose the cartridges
Lift the cover and take out both the black and color cartridges
Move back to the cartridge holder and turn off the printer
After the printer reset, return the cartridges
